Product Description THIS BOOK IS the latest and most current how-to book on how to get the best mortgage and the lowest interest rate out there..... The book is short, around 200 pages, so there is no room for fluff or filler. It is easy to read, set up in chapters and short essays on specific topics. A how-to book on real estate written by an attorney, 20 year veteran in the mortgage industry AND a college level professor. The material is a combination of her classroom format, her every day knowledge and expertise combined with real life experiences to bring the point home. This works and you will love it! A few interesting and favorite topics covered in 300 words or less: * What are the new guidelines for FICO scores and loan to values and how do they affect mortgage rates? * What is Rapid Rescore Response and can it really improve your credit score in 48 hours? * How to get money from your 401k without a penalty * When can a loan from my father-in-law be called a gift? * Why is now so important to show as much money in reserves as you can? * PMI v self insured. Which one is the bigger rip-off? * What will it now cost you to refinance your home and pull cash out? * Appraisal fraud and how is it affecting the value of your home * What is an appraisal contingency clause vs. a mortgage contingency clause and how can you lose your deposit if you do not know? * Points, origination fees, discount fees and broker fees. How do you avoid them all? * What really affects the mortgage rates? * Where do you find the best lawyer in town?

Very informative but not boring September 14, 2009 A. Hiltunen (New York, NY) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I just bought my copy of The New Rules for Mortgages and was happy to find it to have so much information that I can use. It has all the information one needs about mortgages written in a very clever way. I recommend this book to anyone from first-time buyers to real estate professionals.
Invaluable resource for anyone looking to buy a home December 28, 2009 VI (New York, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Whether your buying your first home or a second home, The New Rules for Mortgages, is an invaluable resource given today's real estate market. The "rules of the game" to getting a mortgage have really changed. The author does a fabulous job to explain the mortgage process within the context of today's changing real estate market. The combination of her informative, yet humorous and down-to-earth writing style, makes understanding the mortgage process more manageable. As a home owner and real estate investor, I purchased the book to stay on top of the "game" and arm myself with knowledge from a professional who really knows her stuff. I would HIGHLY recommend this book!
a must read for anyone buying real estate December 29, 2009 D. Bondulic 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a resident of NYC, there is never enough information on how to purchase condos and coops, which make up most of the properties here. A typical how to guide, does not always cut it here in the Big Apple, but this book is not typical! Dale Siegel, did as good a job in The New Rules for Mortgages for those buying property in the mid-west as well as in urban properties. I do not know how she covered it all in 200 pages, but she covered it from soup to nuts! After reading this book from beginning to end, I am now prepared to buy my new home in the city!
This book is a must for anyone buying real estate. It's written in simple terms and easy to read. it's full of real time information for anyone buying in today's market. I loved it!
I do what Dale Siegel does and..... January 5, 2010 Jacquelynn Atcheson (The NJ Gold Coast) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
as a mortgage professional for over 20 years, Dale's writing on the topics necessary for any homebuyer, whether it be first time or repeat is the perfect read.
The book is quick, concise and inserts the author's brand of humor on what most folks would feel is a very dry topic.
I firmly believe in educating my buyers and this is a book I will recommend to them.
Great Mortgage Book for New and Repeat Homeowners November 16, 2009 Marian H. Gordon 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
As a current homeowner interested in moving up, naturally I would want to learn what I would need to know before I begin the process. With all the craziness in the real estate industry and the mortgage market, I wanted to bone up on the new rules. The title of this book was catchy and the release date was current enough that it would catch a lot of the newer rules.
The New Rules for Mortgages is a book worth 5x its purchase price, 10x it weight in gold and would probably save a new homeowner's butt and stop someone from making big mistakes. The author is an active loan officer and lawyer, so she speaks from her daily experience. The book is a quick read, because she gets to the point. As the ad says- concise and no fluff! Anybody who is new to buying a home or has been down the real estate road before should buy this before they begin shopping around. I have much more knowledge than I did before and feel that I am now armed with the language and knowledge to speak intelligently and not get taken advantage of.
I would strongly recommend this book - it has great information and is an easy read.
