Meetings are open to anyone interested in participating. For instance, it is not necessary to
reside in Columbia County in order to attend the meetings in Portage. It is also not necessary to reside in a NAMI
Mid Central county to attend NAMI Mid Central meetings. NAMI Membership is also not required to participate in
Support Group Meetings or the Program Meetings, (although, only paid members have voting rights within the affiliate).

Biannual Program Meetings
(Twice a year)
NAMI
Mid Central WI combined consumer and family Program Meetings. The first is the Membership's Annual Meeting
held on the second Monday November from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. This meeting discusses NAMI Mid Central issues and gives
paid NAMI members the opportunity to vote and give ideas on the function of their NAMI. The second provides educational
opportunities for family members, consumers, and professionals alike. Everyone from NAMI Mid Central is encouraged
to attend the bimonthly program meeting.
The
November 12, 2007 meeting will be held in Westfield, WI. Location will be announced.
Support Groups
We offer several
different types of Support Groups in all six of our service counties. Some meet monthly or semi-monthly, some are
for Mental Health Consumers only, or Family Members only, and some are Combined for Consumers and Family
Members. All groups provide a place to share concerns, realize the power in numbers, and gain strength and understanding
from others affected by mental illness.

Family Support Group held on the first Thursday of the month at the Friendship Connection
from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. This meeting is for family members of person's with mental illness and is located at
the Friendship Connection, 102 East Sixth Street, Friendship, WI 53934. It is facilitated by Rita Smith: 608-564-2371

NAMI C.A.R.E. Support Group for mental health consumers is held on the First Wednesday
of the month from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. The group is held at the Portage Public Library, 253 West Edgewater Street,
Portage, WI 53901 and is facilitated by Loretta Corning: 608-742-4396 or Red4You@verizon.net

NAMI C.A.R.E. Support Group
for mental health consumers is held on the First Thursday of the month from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. The group is held at the Capselle

checking this site for days, locations, and times of additional meetings. If you would like to start a family or consumer

As you
can see we've had quite a few group options and locations be cancelled. Many of our trained support group facilitators
have moved on. NAMI Wisconsin has two or three additional support group facilitator trainings in 2008. If you
are interested in becoming a facilitator please contact us. All we ask is that you hold one group in your local community
at least once a month. If you want to take the training, the lodging, meals and materials are all paid for either by
NAMI Wisconsin or by NAMI Mid Central. Please consider helping us revitalize our support groups!
